I can take that the refs might not be totally neutral in the games, but you are saying that the players/coaching staffs are also acting?  That is impossible!  In order for what you are suggesting to happen, many, many players/coaches/staffs have to be involved over all these times, and it is absolutely impossible for that to be kept secret!  In fact, many of those have already retired too.  I have not heard anything of that nature.  On the other hand, I have heard that kind of things in other sports (e.g. professional soccer, but usually only small number of key players/refs were involved & they couldn't keep that secret either).  You know, the US is a democratic free country and even a Mafia gang (or CIA) couldn't have kept that a secret all these times, period.  Last, but not least, many of those players are very rich and are eager to win, so how can you tell those large number of players to lose and keep them quiet???  And the retired poor players wouldn't blackmail the NBA?  Obviously I have heard of many accusations that NBA is trying to influence games to protect their interests, but that is via the refs, not the players/staffs!
